SPOILER pages 142-186

Earlier today, I was convinced that Grandmother's blank life story was something rather than nothing. I was reminded of this commercial.
BUT, in this reading, Grandmother writes, "I went to the guest room and pretended to write. I hit the space bar again and again and again. My life story was spaces," (176). Also, she says her eyes are not crummy.
I'm really upset right now. Is her life story still something? Or is it actually nothing? If writing it doesn't mean anything to her, why does Foer include page numbers on the blank pages?
