"Marco... Polo" - When my family goes Christmas tree hunting, we divide and conquer. The only problem is that when someone finds a good tree they are nowhere near the rest of us. So we've adopted the use of "marco.. polo" to find each other.
"I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us. If the book we are reading doesn't wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we reading it for? ...we need the books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us." -Kafka

Family phrases
"Kooks" (or Kooksie) - the name my sister has called me for the past 4 years or so. We both have no idea where the name came from, but it stuck. Now the only people who call me that are my sister and her boyfriend, Clay. I guess you could say he's part of the family now that he is allowed to use the nickname.
