One more thing about doorknobs . . .

As I was searching ELIC for quotes, the following quote caught my attention:

". . . the side of the door that faced the guest room was Nothing, the side that faced the hallway was Something, the knob that connected them was neither Something nor Nothing" (Foer 110).

Given Thomas's history with doorknobs, perhaps this is not merely coincidental. It is not classified as Something or Nothing. But then what is it?

    It's like the area "exactly halfway through the Midtown tunnel, exactly halfway over the Brooklyn Bridge, the exact middle of the Staten Island Ferry when it's exactly halfway between Manhattan and Staten," not in any borough...

    That's what I was thinking! The doorknobs are the places between the boroughs!

    So, if the doorknobs are oplaces between the boroughs, then does that make the sixth borough a Nothing space? It seems like one, because it both does and does not exist.
