Hi classes,
Given that we will be out of school until at least Monday, here's the reading plan. Please spread the word via facebook, twitter, phones, etc.
For Monday (or the earliest day we have school), be sure you have read through pg. 305 and be ready for a Harkness discussion. The questions have changed slightly from the last ones I posted:
Questions:
1. How should we read the doorknob on pg. 265? Consider previous doorknob images in the novel as you think about the significance of this one.

2. Consider the stylistic decisions Foer makes on the following pages. What purpose do they serve, and do you find them effective?
pg. 187-189: taped interviews of Hiroshima survivors
pg. 203-207: the broken up conversation
pg. 208-216: the letter marked in red ink
pg. 269-272: use of numbers
pg. 280-284: text getting incredibly close
3. What has Oskar been looking for in his search throughout NYC? To what extent does Oskar find what he has been looking for when he meets William Black?
Please post a quick comment to the blog to let me know that you've seen this.
Good luck weathering the dark and cold!
